I will list these figures and comment. These figures are not as detailed as some but have a good "atmosphere" and paint up well. They are part of a massive coverage by Village Green of this era; with buildings and boats. These latter are in resin with some metal parts where appropriate. A=55p, B=60p, C=15p, D=30p, E=40p, F=95p.
SAM100 A, Samurai standing in robes.
SAM101 A, Samurai seated in robes. Holds his katana, sheathed hilt up. "Do not even let your wife come between you and your sword." ["5 Rings", Musashi]
SAM102 B, Court lady heavily robed with fan. Long hair in the style of illustrations in "The Tale of the Genji".
SAM103 A, Seated bodyguard in robes.
SAM104 A, Travelling lady in beehive hat.
SAM105 B, Lady long hair. You'll have to drill out her hand to take the parasol handle. The shade fits on top.
SAM106 A, Woman carrying box in straw Jingasa hat. Unlike SAM104, she is not veiled. Face is rather coarsely modelled for a lady - Anjin-san in disguise?
SAM107 A, Servant woman/old retainer, hands clasped together. Hai!
SAM108 A, Priest with a bald head and hands clasped together. Could be a ronin in disguise - see start of Akira Kurasawa's "Seven Samurai"!
SAM109 A, Priest with staff and begging bowl. Could be a Taoist priest by the look of his robe front.
SAM110 B, Travelling priest with portable shrine. I like this figure very much.
SAM111 A, Porter with hands to left shoulder, open. (Use with SAM120/121/123)
SAM112 A, Porter with hands up to right shoulder.
SAM117 A, Man hands up to right shoulder for holding Kago carrier/palanquin.
SAM122 F, Kago with pole.
You will notice the list is out of sequential numbering. I have done this intentionally as all these bits/figures go together. If you have watched "Shogun" you will have seen various Kago, used for carrying persons of high rank about.
SAM113 B, Porter with large load on back. Wears a jingasa hat.
SAM114B, Woman (peasant) with hoe and baby on back. I think she should have the hoe in the other hand if she carries it on her shoulder as her baby's head appears on the right. Otherwise great.
SAM115 A, Woman running. A good action figure.
SAM116 B, Man standing, right hand out holding rake. Also jingasa hat. Rake separate.
SAM118 B, Man standing, left hand out holding hoe. Hair knotted in rag. Hoe separate.
SAM119 A, Village Headman. Robes and a type of whisk or fan.
SAM120 E, Bags on bamboo pole (2).
SAM121 E, Boxes on bamboo pole (2).
SAM123 F, 2 large bundles on pole.
