Following on from the last review on the game Command & Conquer [Review in Lone Warrior 114], Westwood Studios have released 'The Covert Operations' CD-ROM. The CD offers 8 new missions for the Brotherhood of NOD, 7 new missions for GDI and 10 new multi-play missions. Not mentioned in the original review was the CD quality music that accompanies the game, the new CD ot'fers 7 additional audio tracks that can be played on your hi-fi (this music adds to the enjoyment).
To the missions: they vary from difficult to virtually impossible, but they are extremely addictive. The missions for both sides range from squad level actions upto building a massive army of tanks, soldiers, etc. to destroy the enemy base. With the new missions come the ability to obtain new weapons (if your the NOD player, I haven't found any for the GDI player yet), these range from Havoc Attack Helicopters to Chemical warfare soldiers.
There is one mission most of you may interested in: You are surrounded on three sides, with your back against a sheer cliffface, it won't be long before GDI forces make a final push against your base. You are outgunned and there is no where to go, you have one nuclear weapon at your disposal, what do you do? The choice is yours...
For anyone who has not yet experienced Command & Conquer I would recommend giving it a go, and for those that have it the new Covert Operations CD is well worth the 15 pounds - especially if you can find someone to play against (the multi-play missions are something else).
