20mm Scotia Micromodels
WWII "Warsquad" figures

Review

by David Barnes

I have some interest in World War II, particularly the Commando Raids [see LW 107] so these figures interested me besides my objective interest as a reviewer. I have had nine items sent for review. I will write about them all and draw some of them as usual.

220 Vickers MG and Firer The firer is sitting on the ground, legs splayed out, hands up to the gun grips. His helmet is covered in camm material. He wears BD, anklets and boots. The gun is a good model and has a barrel cover on over the water jacket. The can and hose are attached to the barrel.

221 Vickers No 2 He is dressed in the same way, kneeling up, feeding a belt from an ammo box into the beast. Both firer and No 2 wear no equipment apart from a webbing belt.

222 MG Observer has committed the ultimate crime in that he has laid his No 4 .303 rifle down with the bolt action against the earthl Apoplexy all round. He wears 38 webbing in full. Valise on back, cape rolled below, small pack on left hip, water bottle on right, ammo, pouches at the front (he's lying on them and very uncomfortable and awkward they were) and he's observing with binocs to his eyes. He also wears BD, steel helmet with commo material. Lively figures.

309 Panzerfaust. Kneels with well shown equipment and rifle slung on his left shoulder.

310 Panzer Schreck. Kneels with his weapon at the shoulder aiming.

311 Panzersch No 2. Panzerschreck 2 squats rather than kneels with his rifle draped across his chest with a spare round for the p/sch in both hands. NB. Don't place him behind the weapon - he'd get blown away.

French - Early War

707 LMG. The poilu is trotting forward with the LMG called "fusilier mitrailleuro by his own side. No sign of a bipod beneath the gun. Good animation. Light kit.

710 Officer. He wears a beret and long gaiters and carries a stick besides the pistol he's waving so he could be in Les Chasseurs Alpin or Infantrie de fortresses who wore similar kit. A lively figure.
