SPECIAL RULES: (Handicap: 0 AP, Open Terrain, 3 Terrain Picks).

A) 1Pt.., Protected camp is treated as being in Rough Terrain for combat or morale,
B) Treat as an advanced retainer. At the start of each battle roll 1D20 per Cos. of mounted knights, if the roll is 18-20 the Cos. fights on foot. If dismounted they may form a unit with no unit cost.

"Elites Attached": Dismounted knights may be mixed into other units, adopting the characteristics of that unit. Elites attached increases the final target number and MG of the unit by +1. One foot unit per pick may have S&P for +2pts.. Artillery must be fielded as a unit by itself. Range 15/30" +5 Weapon Bonus and qualifies for double hits.

This list covers the main European army of the First Crusade from its departure from Constantinople through the recapture of Jerusalem and the illfated attack on Egypt and the battle of Ascalon. The army of Peter The Hermit's is ignored by this list. Crusader knights can fight their way through any unit they can get a hold of but are vulnerable to the swarm tactics of horse archers.

This army list covers Muslim forces of Syria and the restored Abbasis Khalifate of Baghdad folowing th death of Sultan Malik Shah. Many of the rulers of the larger cities (Damascus, Aleppo for example) were ruled in their own right. Their rulers paying nominal lip service to the Kalifate. A form of feudilism was used in Syria however the holdings were not for life and could be recalled at any time.

Syrian heavy cavalry are depected as carrying sheild and lance but not a bow. It is assumed that some lighter cavalry is intermixed with them. *) The minimum of Turkish Spearmen applies only if any other foot are used.
