Luftwaffe Air Ob Notes

Credit for the Luftwaffe OB goes to Jason Long. Since the publication of SF, Jason Long has uncovered considerable previously unavailable information on the Luftwaffe orders of battle for the period. We were torn on the issue of including some of this information here, and finally decided to resolve Jason's work into the current OB with two easily adopted exceptions. This is the deletion of the three He 111H16 bomber units and the addition of the Re 2002. The Heinkels had left the west by this period and never returned.

The RSI unit is actually a German unit, but the only Re 2002s in the counter mix are RSI. Use an RSI counter, but allow German ARPs to replace this unit.

Jason is working on a completely revised Axis SF Air OB which hopefully will appear in TEM in th future.

Luftwaffe fighter units in the West Theater at this time, included JG 2, NJG 4, ZG 1, and parts of JG 26 and NJG 5. Bomber units included KG 2, KG 6, KG 26, KG 40, KG 54, and KG 77, and parts of KG 66, and KG 100, SKG 10, and SG 4. All Luftwaffe units were seriously understrength at this time of the war.
