ProcedureAll Western Allied (WA) air units listed above are available for use each turn. Roll two dice at the start of the Allied initial phase to determine the level of participation of British ground units that turn. This dice roll is made each turn starting with the Jul 1 43 turn. On a roll of 4 or less, one British ground unit is made available for transport to Sweden. The Allied player selects one unit of his choice from the units listed in the order of battle; this unit may be transported by air from the United Kingdom to Sweden on that or any subsequent turn. Example: (1) On the Jul I 43 turn, the Allied player rolls a 3 on two dice on his intervention roll. He selects the 155th Inf X as available for transport to Sweden, but decides not to send it at this time. In addition, all air units listed in the order of battle are available for use this (and every) turn. (2) On the Jul II 43 turn, the Allied player rolls a 7 on his intervention roll. No new ground unit is available for use this turn. However, the 155th Inf X is still available for transport to Sweden and the Allied player decides to do so, using his C-47s. This air transport occurs in the air phase, as normal. Note: Due to the distance involved, the British ground units must be transported to Sweden via double-range transport missions. Due to the geographical isolation of Sweden, the Allied High Command has ordered all Allied air units to base off-map in the United Kingdom (west off map 10A) and return to base there at the end of each turn. Allied air units may NOT base in Sweden. Allied air units flying missions from the United Kingdom enter play on the hexes labelled 'BC" and "HF" and pay a number of movement points equal to the number printed in the hex. Any WA air units that are aborted or eliminated in air combat are automatically repaired or replaced at the start of each Allied player turn. That is, the Allied player always has the WA air units listed above available for use each turn. Ultra ScenarioSame as the Objective: Sweden scenario, except:
Operation I ScenarioSame as the Objective: Sweden scenario, except: British ground units are made available on a roll of 7 or less using two dice (rather than on a roll of 4 or less-see the procedure at left). Swedish Garrison Requirements The Allied player must observe and contain German forces in southern Norway not directly represented in the scenario. This is accomplished by garrisoning certain Swedish cities. The cities to be garrisoned and the size of the garrisoning forces are as follows:
Karlstad (10A:4503): 3 REs Stockholm (5B:6026): 4 REs These garrisons are checked during each German initial phase beginning with the Jul 11 43 game turn. If any city listed above is both Allied owned and lacks its required garrison when checked, the scenario immediately ends, and the German player is awarded a major victory. Due to the more secure situation in southern Sweden inherent in this scenario, the Allied High Command will allow a limited number of Western Allied (WA) air units to base in Sweden. After flying an on-map mission from the UK, one WA air unit per game turn may land in Sweden. (Thus there may be a maximum of one WA air unit based in Sweden at the end of the Jul I 43 turn, two WA air units based in Sweden at the end of the Jul II 43 turn, and so on.) While on- map, a WA air unit is subject to the normal rules for air units, including air repair. Aborted WA air units are repaired on a roll of 1 through 4. An eliminated on-map WA air unit is automatically replaced in the next Allied initial phase, appearing in the United Kingdom. To again base in Sweden, it must return to Sweden via the above procedure. Note that the Allied player never has more WA air units available to him than are listed in the OB above. That is, basing WA air units on-map reduces the number of air units available in the UK. Example: There are two B-25Cs based in Sweden. This means that there will be only two B-25Cs available to fly missions from the UK that turn, even if the B- 25Cs in Sweden are inoperative. Also see Rule 33B for additional special rules for this scenario. Operation II ScenarioSame as the Objective: Sweden scenario.
