Peru 1827-30 Uniforms: Part 1

FIG. 1. 1st. Lieutenant, "Junin Hussars" 1830

Colpack black fur, plume white over red with gilt holder, crimson bag with gold lace, tassel and cords, gilt chin scales. Pelisse navy blue, silver buttons and. lace, crimson collar and cuffs, brown fiix. Dolman crimson navy blue collar and cuffs, silver lace, gilt buttons, gold lace on collar design, white pouch belt, black pouch with gilt fittings. Barrel sash red and white, overalls navy blue, red cords with , white wasistbelt and sword slings, gilt sword hilt with brass scabbard.

Colpack black, Plume white over red, bag yellow with gold, lace and tassel, Peruvian national cockade (red & white ), gold cords and flounders, gilt chinscales. Tunic crimson, green collar, cuffs and turnbacks, gold lace on chest, collar, cuffs, grenade on turnbacks, eppouletts and buttons. Pouch belt black with gilt fittings, waistbelt white, gilt fittings, overalls navy blue, sword knot gold, gilt hilt, brass scabbard, shabraque green with gold lace.

As Fig.2. but with yellow lace not gold, white pouch belt, brass sword hilt, yellow eppouletts.

FIG. 4. Trooper "Guard Cavalry" 1827

Colpack brown, bag scarlet, cords and flounders also scarlet, yellow tassel on bag, plume white over red, brass chinscales. Tunic scarlet, light blue collar, cuffs and turnbacks, scarlet lapels, yellow lace on cuffs and collar, yellow eppouletts. White belts, brass fittings, white marmaluke style trousers, brass sword hilt and scabbard, black sabretache, shabraque scarlet with light blue lace.

As Fig. 4. but with gold lace and gilt fittings, gold eppouletts, red waist sash with gold tassels, black pouch belt edged in gold lace, sword slings and waist belt the same, gold lace design on turnbacks, sword knot gold, gilt hilt.

FIG. 6. Colonel "Arequipa Dragoons" 1827

Helmet steel with gilt crest, front bar, base band and edging on front and back peaks, (steel peaks) gilt chinscales, plume white over red, national cockade (red & white) white horse hair crest. Tunic yellow, red piping, blue collar, cuffs and turnbacks, gold collar and turnback designs,, gold lace on cuffs. White belts, gilt fittings, blue overalls, brass sword scabbard and gilt hilt.

As Fig. 6. except brass instead of gilt, yellow lace replaces gold lace, colour of rank chevron and bayonet scabbard not given, shoulder strap blue piped in red.
