75th Higlanders
by Robert A. Mosher
The 75th Highlanders, like the 74th, was one of the four regiments raised in 1787. It was embodied at Stirling in June, 1788 with Robert Abercromby of Tullibody as Col onel, and left for India soon afterward. In 1806 it was ordered home, leaving behind those men volunteering to remain in India with other regiments. It was ordered to stop wearing the kilt in 1809 and became the 75th Regiment of Foot.
