The morning of 26 Prairial (morning after) Gardanne's Division was in its original position. Chambarlhac, Boudet's, and Watrin's Divisions and Kellermann's Brigades were formed in line between Marengo and Spinetta. Monnier's Division and the 19th Legere stood before Castel-Ceriolo, the 70th DemiBrigade was in the village and the 72nd Demi-Brigade was to its left. Rivaud's Brigade had spent the night on the battlefield behind Castel-Ceriolo. Champeaux's brigade stood between the divisions of Watrin and Monnier. The French general headquarters, and the foot and mounted consular guard, were in Toffe di Garafolo. During the night they were joined by the 12th Chasseur Cheval Regiment.
