Nine short chapters provide a brief history of the evolution of battleships in the US Navy from the American Revolutionary War to the Vietnam War. Fifty-eight black and white illustrations and seven line drawings provide examples of various ships through the ages. Of special use to the wargamer are the five charts which provide fairly detailed information: Battleships disposed of before WWII; Battleships which saw service in WW II; Employment of battleships in WW II; Service of old battleships in WW II; Service of Fast battleships in WW II.
