GENCON XIV: LOW ON HISTORICAL MINIATURE EVENTSWhile at Pacific Origins, I received a preregistration for GENCON. I was disappointed to discover that of 103 events (including auction, special meetings, and flea market) there were only 7 Historical Miniature events! One can only hope that there are many more that were notpreregistered and many historical gaming openings will be available. The intent is to provide something everybody interested in gaming, and Volume 1 No. 1 (July 1981) certainly covers the whole field. The initial issue has several interesting articles on gaming (and gamers) in general, rather than on areas of the hobby like FRP. For example there is a piece on women gamers and why there a more in the hobby There is also the more stuff: a convention report, game reviews and articles on DM'-ing.
