TAFELBLITZ IM NORD AFRIKA A glance through the latest COURIER reveals not only a mismatch between the illustration and the article by Lochet. There is an even more egregious problem with Paul Koch’s article. He tries to cover vehicles for the North African campaigns without listing the M13/39, M13/40, Auto Blinda 40, Semovente 75/18 and a variety of other Italian types and weapons. Since I sell Italian stuff not German and British. Unfortunately after all of these years of tripping over the fabled 1975(sic) Ariete Division, hardly had I decided to make RTV molds again for the M13/40s and Semoventes but they went AWOL. Can’t find them anywhere. But some day my SCW Italians will go to the Desert. - Pat Condray (WKPP). The 8th Army never paid any attention to the Italians, why should I? They exist only to give victories to other nationalities. They even lose to the Austrians and the French.
USES OUR REVIEWS TO DECIDE PURCHASES I have been a loyal subscriber for years with The Courier one of my favorite reads. Issue 85’s comparison of the various WWII manufacturers’ castings was particularly useful and timely. I was just about to purchase some figures and the article was a big help in deciding which ones to buy. I am looking forward to issue # 86 which is scheduled to cover WWII vehicles. I’ve been holding my purchases until I could review your article. The fate of the economy rests in your hands :) Thanks for publishing such a fine magazine written in a manner directed at wargamers, giving us the data we need in the style we want it. This allows me to make informed buying decisions better than any other magazine, saving me more than the cost of the subscription by reducing wasted lead, if you know what I mean. As the Duke said, “Hold your fire men, don’t waste your lead (use your Courier magazine).” I can’t remember which movie, but I’m pretty sure he’s famous for this quote.
I wrote to you over a year ago regarding the past articles of the Rise and Fall of the False Prophet of San Juan. I have been a fan of the Courier for many many years and I have enjoyed and have been inspired by so many of the articles posted in The Courier. I would really like to complement you on this particular issue #87. The Rise and Fall of the Empire of Rabih Fadl Allah! Outstanding! I have already put my order in from Attactix Hobby shop here in Colorado for some Native troops. These kind of articles really do inspire Wargamers like myself (Pictures, maps, history, and figure availability). Thanks, keep up the good work and great pictures!
Thanks, both of you, for your kind words. It is always gratifying to know that we are filling the needs of our readers and your letters and Volley Fire Responses are the best method of letting us know what you want. - DICK BRYANT Wow! Renewal time again! But I’m glad to do so and, I must say $19.00 seems like so little for the pleasure and knowledge you and The Courier have brought me year after year since –hmmm – since the early 10980’s, Id guess. Wow again! Time really DOES fly when you’re having fun! Thanks for the consistently excellent magazine. –TIM BOYD,Lockport NY WOW BACK! Thanks for your kind words. They made my day. Opening a letter like yours at the end of a long day of typing, editing and reading letters from those who don’t feel that we cover their period enough or that the two typos in this issue made it totally useless; - well its like a shot of rum in your morning coffee! Thanks again! - DICK BRYANT VOLLEY FIRE COMMENTS This is one of the most useful wargames magazines that I have ever purchased. Specifically the three articles on wargames rule design. Articles that cut across the period specific nature of our hobby are priceless Next to my gaming table, I have a stack of several dozen wargaming magazines from various publishers. This most recent issue of the Courier has more articles that cut across specific periods and specific rule sets than any other issue I can think of. The three insightful articles on rule design really piqued my interest!
