Secret Victory:
Benelux, General of Salacia

By Otto Schmidt

The second Elvish Civil War was “YOUR” war. You, a cousin of King Beltelephon, made your bid for power. You lost. Once again those cursed Swinns defeated you. Those cursed Swinns and their new “religion.” How you hate them both! Even when you fled to Salacia, took your present name (your original name was Lactaid) and embraced Islam (though it’s all a sham, you still are Catholic at heart and you hate these vile southerners who look like goats and smell like them to boot) you could not forget the injury they have done to you and the insult to your old faith. Now you are an Emir in Salacia, and a General.

If only the Great Shah Na-Na would be more energetic. He is so morose and indecisive. The latest Elvish Civil War has given you an opportunity! Perhaps to regain your throne! If not, certainly to add provinces to the Empire of the Shah! Provinces that may well be yours, and being Elvish provinces, you might be allowed to assume the title of King of the Elves! Ah! What possibilities. This war has been going well. Legolam, son of Ltihium, self-styled “King of the Elves” has once again revolted in the north, and while your main armies are fighting there, the Salacious Empire has attacked in the south. You convinced Shah Na-Na to intervene with his army, and have met little opposition. Your decision to hire the Zwiss mercenaries also astutely countered, once again, the entry of the damnable Swinns into the fray. If you are lucky, you will get these despicable Zwiss (Zwiss - Swinn, they say there’s a difference and they act like enemies but they all look the same to you) to fight themselves. Now you are met outside of this town of Mortadella and there is a chance that it all could be yours! If we can defeat the Atholli, not only the Labanza, but perhaps the Barcarole, the Belgravia, and even Lollapalooza and the Lorna Dunes may fall to you! The vision of the whole kingdom... true “Lord of the Elves...!” If only Shah Na-Na were more decisive. He has given you only a portion of the army... If only you could get more. And those Zwiss are wanting their money.

1. You get one victory point for each additional unit that Shah-Na-Na releases to you.

2. You get two victory points if the King of Belgravia, and Prince Lanolin are killed and FOUR if King Beltelephon is killed (this pretty much clears away the contenders between you and the throne of Atholl.

3. You get one victory point for each wagon of 100,000 florins you have in your control at the end of the game.

4. You get two victory points for each Zwiss unit eliminated (you don’t have to pay them).

5. You get two victory points for each Atholli unit (not mercenary) eliminated by you (it is counted as surrendered and will be added to your private army.

6. You get FOUR victory points if your side (Your units, Shah Na, Na’s or the Zwiss) take Mortadella. (It will increase your political reputation in the Court and the Harem.

7. If you get Shah Na-Na to participate in an attack you get four victory points.

8. If Shah Na-Na is killed you can get a maximum of only six points.
