The American Wargaming Association is the fourth national wargaming organization to be announced in as many Months. Why, one might ask, is another group necessary? The answer to this lies in the differences between the American Wargaming Association and its recently announced "competition".

The A.W.A. exists entirely for the benefit of its membership. A.W.A. officers are unpaid, dues-paying members. The A.W.A. is not part of a profit-malting corporation.

The purpose of the A.W.A. is to make WarGaming more fun, not to make it more professional. We believe that wargaming is a hobby, and that it, can be improved-as a hobby. The A.W.A. will sponsor and support conventions, publications, and local- and special-interest groups, all with the objective of helping WarGamers to find opponents with common interests.

In the A.W.A., the members choose their own officers. The Regional Directors, will help run the club, will be elected by the residents of the Region, not appointed from above. The entire membership will elect two National Officers, who will not be forcibly concentrated in a single city or state.
