I. The name of this organization shall be The American Wargaming Association. The Purpose of this organization shall be to support conventions, publications, and other activities of benefit to the hobby of amateur wargaming. II. Officers A. The officers of this organization shall be the Pres- ident, Vice President, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, Editor, and the Regional Directors. The Officers of the Association, with the Vice President as Chairman, shall comprise the Directorate, which shall be the governing body of the Association. The President, Vice President, Treasurer, Membership Secretary, and Editor shall comprise the national officers of the Association. B. The duties of the President shall be:
2. to act as public spokesman for the Association. 3. to appoint chairmen to such committees as the By-Laws shall establish. C. The Duties of the Vice President shall be-
2) to assume the duties of any National Officer who shall cease to perform them. 3) to perform such other duties as are not specifically mentioned in the Constitution or By-Laws but which are necessary to the proper and efficient functioning of the Association. D. The duties of the Treasurer shall be:
2) to receive and disburse the funds of the Association. 3) to furnish the Editor with a monthly report on the finances of the Association, which shall be printed in the Association Newsletter. 4) to furnish the Editor withan annual report on the finances of the Association, which shall be printed in the Association Newsletter. 5) to furnish the other officers with necessary inform- ation on the membership and finances of the Association. E. The duties of the Membership Secretary shall be:
2) to monitor the activities of the affiliated organizations. 3) to act as the internal information officer of the Association. F. The duty of the Editor shall be to edit and produce the Newsletter of the Association on a regular monthly basis. G. The duties of the Regional Directors shall be:
2) to roster and promote local contact and local wargaming activity. III. The Directorate. A. The Directorate shall be the governing body of the Association. It shall have the power to:
2) authorize the receipt and expenditure of Association'. funds. 3) remove officers. 4) establish committees, grant organizational affiliations, and take such other actions as it deems necessary to further the purposes of the Association. 5) initiate constitutional amendements 6) by three-quarters vote, expel a member from the AWA IV. Elections. All officers of the Association shall be elected annually by the membership. The regular elections for National Officers shall be conducted at the same time. Elections for the Regional Directors shall be staggered through the year. The election ballots and the results shall be printed in the Newsletter. V. Removal of Officers. A. Officers of the Association may be removed from office
for non-performance of duties, violation of the Constitution of By-Laws, or
any action or activity detrimental to the reputation or interests of the
Association, as determined by the Directorate or the membership.
VI. Affiliatlon. The Directorate may grant and revoke affiliated status with the Arsociation to other organization. VII. Initiative and Amendment On petition of five percent of the membership, or an otherwise provided, the membership of the Association shall vote on proposed amendments to the Constitution or By-Laws or the removal of any officer. A majority vote of members' voting on an amendment or removal shall effect that amendment or removal. The Editor of the newsletter shall publish in the Association Newsletter announcements or proposed initiatives. VIII. Regions Regional Directors shall be elected by and from the membership or geographically defined regions. There shall be ten Regions; their boundaries shall be established by the Directorate.
