How Another Gaming Organization
Conducts Its Business

New Subscription Year

The Naval Wargames Society's 2003/04 subscription year has just opened and we are seeking new (and returning) members.

The Naval Wargames Society (NWS) was formed in the 1960s with the aim of promoting naval wargaming throughout the world and to act as a forum for the exchange of information and ideas for the development of the hobby. To this end we produce a magazine entitled 'Battlefleet.'

Membership of the NWS is by subscription to "Battlefleet" (edited by Phil Russell), and is based upon a four-issue volume. Members joining part way through a subscription period will receive all back issues of the current volume. It is intended that the journal will be issued four times per annum, with the first issue in late Summer or Autumn 2003, with the final issue to be published in early Summer 2004. As well as articles covering all periods and aspects of naval wargaming from ancient galleys to modern carriers and submarines (and beyond), Battlefleet also includes model, hobby and naval news and reviews of models, rules, books and other items that are of interest to naval wargamers. Members' advertisements and queries are included free of charge.

Other benefits of membership include discounts offered by manufacturers and retailers, including Skytrex, Langton Miniatures, A&A Game Engineering, Peter Pig, Chiltern Miniatures, Portsmouth Miniatures, David Vanner, P.T. Dockyard, Denian Models, Dave Willcocks (Dreadnought Models), Vandering Publications and Partizan Press. Members in the UK also have the opportunity to join in NWS regional activities and the now legendary NWS Annual Holiday! The society also publishes a monthly email newsletter that includes forthcoming events, battle reports and other information. The newsletter, entitled 'All Guns Blazing' is an excellent means of promulgating details of forthcoming events, plus battle reports, news items and other bits and pieces.

If you would like any more information about the society, details of membership and a copy of the subscription form in PDF format please send an email to me at David.manley@btinternet.com . Alternatively, membership details and the subscription form can be found on the NWS website at website.lineone.net/~swhite101/Battle/Sub.htm

As of now the NWS is also able to take "online" subscriptions via PayPal (although this does require a nominal surcharge on the membership fee to cover the costs of that service).
