Train Raider

Game Review

by Ted Cheatham

I think this is the best crayon rail game I have played (and I have played a few). You draw rails just like all others. What makes this game work for me is you actually may customize speed and strength of your train depending on your goals for the turn. Second, you draft missions to take passengers, deliver goods, race, etc. So, the game has variety.

Finally, once a mission is taken, each player that can trace a path to the mission tracks can participate either to complete the mission or to try to kill players as a combat train. Typically most players are in every mission in some capacity. You get points for completing missions and you get honor points for smacking other players. The game runs about 2 hours. If you like crayon games, this is the best. If you don't like crayon games....you may want to play before you buy. My copy is a keeper and I do not plan to sell it and I am glad I own it. BTW, I have sold all of my other crayon games.
