The Heliograph (Richard Brooks, 207 Ivory Key Road, Saluda SC 29138) $18 per year, monthly, 20 pages. Colonial perriod warfare, miniatures, rules. Has survived several changes of editor over the years, and keeps on going.

The Herald (Mike Demana,2513 Arborview Drive, Columbus Ohio 43229) $12 per year, bimonthly, 48 pages 8.5x5.5”, published by the Historical Miniatures Gaming Society Great Lakes Chapter. Club magazine, historical miniatures,all periods, including club events, rules, ads, reviews of hobby stores and other clubs, news.

HMGS Dispatch (Major Bill Harting, 101 Taylor Road, Estill Springs, TN 37330) 44 pages, monthly, 5.5x8.5, Miniatures, historical, all periods, articles of a more general interest, e.g., history of wargaming, on occasion. Extensive news on conventions, etc.

Line of Departure (James Werbaneth, POB 508, Gibsonia PA 15044) $20/year, 24 pages, quarterly, board and computer gaming, news, game reviews, scenarios.

Lone Warrior (Solo Wargamer’s Association, 1707 Ridge Road, Leavenworth KS 66048, $25 per year, quarterly, 42 pages plus covers). Solo more or less miniatures gaming, all periods, including fantasy, with rules, scenarios, references to paper models, etc.

Midwest Wargamer’s Association Newsletter (Hal Thinglum, 22554 Pleasant Drive, Richton Park Ill 60471. 5.5x8.5”, bound, nearly 200 pages per issue. Bimonthly, $35 per year. MWAN is a massive piece of work, with ads, reviews, club lists,...and all sorts of other information on all parts of the miniatures hobby. MWAN is the magazine of record for miniaturists; there really is not a corresponding boardgaming zine.

Paper Wars (John Burtt, 1558 Hastings Mill Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15241) (8.5x11”, 52 pages, bimonthly $29.95 per year from Omega Games, POB 2191, Valrico FL 33595) Game reviews, some book reviews. The latest issue had longer reviews of 14 games, and short reviews of close to a dozens.

Simulacrum (John Kula, 794 Fort Street RPO, Box 38057, Victoria BC Canada V8W 3N2) ($21/year, quarterly, 11x8.5, 52 pages. Game Collectors, game history, reviews of games especially obscure baord rwargames, data on prices and availability, lists of titles of old games.
