Many characters are already online for Hero, at least: http://www.sysabend.org/champions/gnborh/ The Great Net Book of Real Heroes has tons of cool characters, with different power levels and multiple writeups for several of them. They might not have everyone on your list, but if not you'll be able to see lots of others. I don't know if reading Hero characters is a good intro to the system, though -- it might be like jumping into the deep end of the pool. The thing to remember about Hero is that character construction can be complex, but actual game play is pretty simple. And even character construction's not as bad as it looks -- it's only when you get into trying to exactly model characters from other sources that it gets a little bit fiddly. If you guys just want to write up your own super-heroes, it won't be hard at all.
