Would-be designers are well-advised to read a copy of Strategy&Tactics' Staff Study 'Wargame Design and Marketing' book, and then read everything they can get their hands on pertaining to the battle or war in question which they are seeking to simulate. Realism-though not at the expense of playability-should as closely mimic actual events and facts as possible. Orders of Battle should be precise, taken from several sources, and include 'possible' participants (those units which came close to inclusion, or were nominally available for the action-despite not taking part historically for one reason or another). The Chair of this committee is only recently coming aboard, and so is unaware of any SGS members who might be designing games. Any help, however, that may be asked will-if possible-be given. The Chair has some experience in designing scenarios and variants , researching OOB's, and has designed two complete stand-alone boardgames. Additionally, the Chair is currently selling a twenty page supplemental rule book for AH's WAR AT SEA. The Chair is currently employed at the Library Of Congress in Washington, and is in a unique position to be able to assist SGS members in locating maps, bibliographies, and photos/artwork on virtually any topic--in any language--they choose, all for a very small and reasonable fee.
