The Strategy Gaming Society is the best kept secret in the Hobby. That has to change.

I am pleased to appoint Allan Poulter to chair the Errata and Variants Committee. It is the goal of this committee to be the sine qua non for errata and variants for all published general board and board wargames. Allan’s name may be more familiar to you as the driving force behind the popular web-grognards site.

Over the past few weeks I have been collecting comments and suggestions as to how to improve the Society’s recruitment flier. All of the input has been translated into a mockup; I have hired a graphic artist to complete the final version. This project will not impact the Society’s Treasury and should be complete by the end of the first quarter.

I am concerned about the large number of vacancies among the Regional Directors. Filling these vacancies has been more difficult than I expected. If there are any members who live in Regions 1, 3, 4, 6, or 8 who wish to volunteer to be a Regional Director, please contact the Editor or myself.

It is unlikely that I will be attending the Origins Convention this year. I will therefore be unable to organize the SGS general membership meeting at Origins that is required by the Society’s By-Laws. Your Society needs a volunteer to perform this task. Please contact me if you are interested.

The SGS will be running a fundraising auction through the pages of Strategist. I call upon all members for donations of games and related items.Please send new, like-new, or collectible donations to me at 896 West San Fernando Street, San Jose CA 95126-3055. I will acknowledge receipt of items by return post. Items will be described in detail, assigned lot numbers. and listed in -S- with a minimum bid and an estimated postage cost. Names of donors will also be acknowledged. Bids that stand for two consecutive issues will gain the item, and will be sent by me as soon as I receive your payment. A special Election has been called for Directorate Region 9 (places in the United States with ZIP Codes beginning with 9). The sole candidate is Brian Swisher. A ballot appears on page 11. Only residents of the region are allowed to vote.
