Sid Sackson--the supreme game collector, and designer of many games--is reportedly in a nursing home in New Jersey. Don Featherstone, miniatures author and former magazine editor, is reportedly recovering from a serious medical challenge.

Reports

President Mark Kramer writes: ‘A funny thing happened as I was folding my tent, packing my bags, and preparing to take the road to SGS oblivion. A member actually telephoned me and wanted to have a chat about the future of the Society. We talked for about an hour. At the end, I had been brought about to running for President. Patrick Kelley has volunteered to serve as Regional Director, Region 2. He has my deepest thanks. The Directorate has created ad hoc committees to create a society budget, to create a Twelfth (electronic) Region, and to organize a by-mail auction of games and related materials through the pages of -S-. John Kula has volunteered to chair the Committee on creating a new virtual region. I have brought the membership renewal letter up to date; it has been sent out in the latest batch of reminders. My efforts to fill vacant posts are progressing more slowly than I had hoped. I hope to make better progress in the near future.

Finally, if there is some issue that you believe should be brought to the attention of the President, please let me know what it is. I promise to give it the best attention that I am able.

Treasurer George Phillies writes

First, Rick Loomis and I are presenting the SGS with copies of Rick’s The Origins Metagame. Rick is giving us the cards (enclosed) and I am picking up the extra postage.

Second, in the last month, Acting Vice President Kramer was paid $50 for costs associated with printing and mailing recent issues of the Directorate Newsletter. Cash on hand is $3597; we presently owe the Editor $356 for the past two issues.
