I own the older Warfrog copy which has very basic and poor graphics, design quality and artwork. However, I understand the basic rules to the game remain the same in the new edition. I've only played the game once and found it to be rather enjoyable, but nothing special. In fact, I had heard decent things about the game so was rather disappointed when it wasn't as good as I had heard. The basic idea is for players to expand their peoples across land areas in attempts to capture as much land as possible. Movement across land is limited based on the land type you initially play your 'barbarians'. Points are scored by upgrading barbarians to civilized peoples and ultimately constructing altars with these civilized peoples to worship their god ... that would be you! The game is one of positioning and constant conflict as you attempt to oust your opponents from areas you covet. Again, not a bad game, but I haven't had the incentive to pull it out again.
