The American Civil War: Command & Colors is basically miniatures lite. Mr. Borg has created scenarios for virtually every skirmish from the ACW. His basic rule book (produced privately, prior to Hasbro) has about 6 or 7 of these setups. I don't know which of these will be offered by Hasbro. But, if you have seen Hasbro's Lionhart game (the chess-like one, not the German game), it's very similar. C&C does have a few details concerning terrain, but nothing terribly complicated. The glory of the system is that everything is driven by a very small deck of cards and you can only move a few units per turn, and then only ift hey're in the correct flank (right, center, left). So, even though you have a superb strategic plan, you may have difficulty with lines of communication and your forces will just sit there looking dumb. It recreates the ebb and flow of Age of Rifle warfare very well. By the way, I have not heard any official confirmation that this game is actually going to be published. It was on the slate for Avalon Hill, but when that went south, I don't know that Hasbro picked up the project. In fact, Richard had met with Hasbro (Milton Bradley division) before he went to AH and Hasbro turned it down. Also, I don't think that C&C was mentioned at Toy Fare in New York. The only word from Hasbro/AH, I believe, was to release upgraded versions of Acquire and Diplomacy.
