What I use is a spring-counter balanced lamp and magnifying glass combination -- a 'Polaris Magnifier Lamp, model IM 295 A', from Ledu Corp. of Trumbull, Ct. It has a magnifying lens 105mm in diameter -- a little over 4" -- so I can look through it with both eyes and use binocular vision/depth perception. Got it for half-price when the art-supply store that used to be on 8th Street held their 'moving sale' back in the summer of '93 or '94... Similar 'magnifying lens and lamp' doohickeys are probably available at art supply shops, craft stores, office supply chains, hobby shops... If all else fails, check Pearl Paints on South St. IIRC, Cappeli's Hobby Shop at 3rd and Market (that's in Philadelphia, for those who just joined this thread.) sells the magnifying goggles someone mentioned. Good luck and good painting - and gaming!
