Michael Dean of Fine Games writes us that as of early September: “Precious little real info has surfaced as to Hasbro's intentions, or what will change after AH changes hands. The latest news is simply that the Hasbro purchase won't close on the originally announced date. Apparently, a delay was agreed upon so that AH could finalize Doomed Battalions. Doomed Battalions saw the light of day sometime in September AH slipped below the water right on schedule on October 23. Their 800 # was been disconnected ("no further info is available"). The AH web site now refers you to Hasbro, which remains mum on the whole subject. AH Games, and ASL games in particular, are rapidly going the way of the do-do bird in the distribution system. While you'll find a varied assortment of AH product in your local, obscure retail hobby store -- even a prized copy of Doomed Battalions if you're lucky, all of the several distributors that I work with have only a hodge podge stock of AH products remaining. With the exception of about two dozen known items, I'm still able to source everything for customer orders. Its just a lot more work as one place will have, for example, Successors but not Hannibal, another will have Hannibal but not Successors. Soon, both will have neither.... If you're interested in watching what Hasbro does with AH, and figuring out why they bothered with this little niche company, I recommend that you read Greg Costigyn's web pages on the matter. He's right on target IMO, and it's scary. Seehttp://www.happypuppy.com/press/features/avalonhill-ar1.htm.
