I use those tray sets you normally use for screws and other fittings in a work shop. There is one available at the Walmart stores here in Newfoundland for about 12 bucks with about thirty trays and two large ones at the bottom. I base my figures on 1.5 x 1.5 inch stands and three fit into a tray with room to spare. To avoid damage to the stands and figures when taking them out, I cut a piece of bristle board and bend the ends so it is a "tray liner". I lay the stands on this "liner" and lift it by the bent up ends into the tray. This way, you don't have to reach in and grab an actual figure. It all works great; at one stand = 1 squad, I can put a battalion's worth of troops into one of these. with unbased dead guys and other extras and cart it all over. I use Avery colour stickers to label trays from the outside. The larger trays can even carry two or three tanks/APCs/Dice/... My figures are plastic - don't know how the weight of lead would affect my bristle board liner.
