Rio Grande Games reports on the Internet that they are producing the English version of El Grande - not Mayfair Games. They further report: We also have already released English cards for those who already bought the German game and do not want to buy the entire new version for the cards. The cards are $10 and the game will be $40 when it is released in late September or October.

Actually, there are not duties or tariffs on board and card games. Much of the higher cost (of foreign games) is due to the higher shipping costs to get the games over the Atlantic. Also, it is difficult to get the cheapest wholesale prices in Europe when you order the small quantities that the less popular German titles support. In the past year, some of us have had better luck with being able to buy small amounts cheaply and often can buy larger amount because of the increase in the market for the games - and the lower prices and English version (with the same components) are helping to grow the market even more.
