We hear from Fractal Dimensions that they are now shipping Escape From Dinosaur Island!, a solitaire gamelet where your objective is to get as many marines alive off the island while accomplishing various missions. Play is done on two levels with an Encounter map for navigating the marine squad through the island and a Tactical map for combat. The marines have firepower in the form of bazookas, guns, rifles, and grenades. The dinosaurs have teeth, horns, and claws. Game Data: 1 player, medium complexity, one hour playing time. Game components: 8 page rulebook, 13" x 10" Encounter map, 13" x 10" Tactical Map, 18 Marine Status Charts, 131 unit counters in color Gamelets are Fractal Dimensions' line of microgames. Gamelets are designed for retailers that sell comics, science fiction & fantasy books, and games. They are easily displayed and easily explained. The look and feel of a Gamelet is aimed at the beginning wargamers, but should be familiar to the old wargamer of yesterday. Gamelets are comic book-size. The board or gaming field is the mid-dle 2 pages of the book. The counter set is printed on the back cover. A quick sheet is printed on the inside cover. To assemble the game, you just take off the perforated cover, cut the counters, and pull out the playing board(s). The rules are left intact. The Gamelet is ready to be played. Gamelets are not shrink-wrapped. The covers are made from sturdy card stock, while the insides are printed on white 60# paper. Customers can pick up a Gamelet and leaf through it. When disassembled, Gamelets can be stored in regular mylar comic bags.
