Broadsides and Boarding Parties

Review

by Jason “Astromutt” Cordes

I finally got my copy of B&B, and I actually got to play it. My wife was the lucky victi...err opponent. First I must say, the game is gorgeous and lavishly illustrated. If they had game art awards I'd demand that this game get one. Game play is fluid, but stumbling through the rules the first time was a bit cumbersome. I'd probably rearrange the rules for clarity and put all the tables on one handy chart card. In fact you could probably reduce the rules to one or two pages with a reference card.

All in all this is a great game. I see why it is in such high demand. There are only three negatives from my POV.

    1) Only two players can play at once.

    2) The mini's are kind of hard to deal with if you have really big hands (like I do). Also they tend to slide off the upper deck to mid deck which was kind of annoying.

    3) Once you assemble the ships, they don't really fit back in the box again.

My recommendation, if you can find it and afford it, and you like two player games, get it!!!

I will probably make a webpage for this game it was so good :)
