First, three cheers for Membership Secretary Brian Train, who brought up the web pages for the Society at http://www.wpi.edu/~citizenx.sgshome.html. Note that Brian is a bit cramped for total space, additional spaace at the site would cost money, and a discussion of alternatives would be open. Second, activists are still the lifeblood of the Society. The SGS needs members who are prepared to stand up for their society, shoulder a bit of the burden, and make the SGS more of a going concern. The Constitution and By-Laws, the embodied wisdom of a quarter-century of Society activists, list a vast number of things that the SGS could be doing for the gaming hobby, if only SGS members were willing to stand up and do it. When I asked for volunteer typists, I was swamped with colunteers. In fact, every article that I have had on hand in typed non-electronic form has been typed, and has been or soon will be published in Strategist. If you were one of those typists, Thank you! If you colunteered, buit were never send articles to type, You are not forgotten! I ran out of articles that neede typing. I could use volunteers who read the Internet, and who would be willing to look for good articles for Strategist. There is a particular need for people who read newsgroups that I don’t; I do not read everything. I’ll be happy to correspond with any volunteers; I have a per-missions letter that can be sent, and some comments on what a good article looks like. We have over the years had a long list of activities that could be carried out again, if anyone was interested. Why not Stand Up for the SGS! and Volunteer to Do the Work of a committee chair? Finally, you may have noticed that the cutoff date for the next issue has been floating backwards with respect to the calendar. Our fixed objective has been to get the publication date back in line with the Calendar, so that you receive the issue for the month at our close to the start of the month. With the August issue, I expect that we will finally attain this objective.
