Issaries, Inc.

Glorantha Rolegaming

We read in our EMail: Issaries, Inc. is a new publicly held game company created to explore the mythical World of Glorantha. First created in 1966 by Greg Stafford, Glorantha has been the basis for such award-wining games as Dragon Pass and Runequest. The Issaries corporation will be built from and run by its fan-based stock-holders.

"I feel that Glorantha can be a deep source of inspiration for many types of products, from RPGs to computer games to fantasy fiction," states Greg Stafford. "Issaries, Inc. will allow people who love Glorantha to help expand it in all areas."

Issaries, Inc. already has its first few RPG books based on Glorantha in progress, including the basic rulebook called "Hero Wars" and an introductory guidebook. It is also working on various computer game and fiction projects.

The World of Glorantha introductory book is scheduled to appear on store shelves before the end of the year. The new RPG based on Glorantha is scheduled for a Spring 1999 release. The pre-press and sales of Gloranthan RPGs and fiction will be handled by Chaosium Inc., one of the longer-lived game companies in the industry.

Chaosium Inc. and Issaries, Inc. have announced that they will publish and distribute games and books based upon the World of Glorantha. Glorantha is best known for a former incarnation in the RPG RuneQuest and board game Dragon Pass, previously published by Chaosium and subsequently by Avalon Hill.

"We're glad to do this kind of venture," says Eric Rowe, Director of Sales and Marketing for Chaosium, "where two companies can capitalize on their individual strengths. Issaries is providing content and financing, and Chaosium is providing its award-winning pre-press services and 25 years of professional sales experience."

"Chaosium's first game was a Glorantha game, its first RPG was a Gloranthan RPG, and its first fiction was Gloranthan," says Greg Stafford, author of the Gloranthan property and several award-winning RPGs.

In other news, Joseph Teller has gone one step beyond most computer literate rolegamers and released a personally-designed CD-ROM disk with a variety of roleplaying rules, fiction, and other material. Your humble editor is responsible for some of the fiction.
