A good share of my hobby time the past eight years has been spent researching, designing and playtesting a game about the action in the War of 1812 that happened around where I grew up in Beekmantown, New York. In November 3-W will publish my game FURY ON CHAMPLAIN. FURY is based on the 1814 attack on upstate New York by a combined British and Canadian land and naval force. The game has both naval units (which sail on Lake Champlain) and. land units which can move in New York and/or Vermont. Both Militia and Regular American troops are represented as are their principal leaders. British regulars and mercenaries as well as the unique Canadian Voltigeurs and Chasseurs, and their leaders.. So the game is the first to treat the topic of the War of 1812 in the North Country, and the first to represent the early indigenous Canadian troops The map scale is Grand Tactical/Operational. Game movement is simple "I move- you move". Each side has land movement and lake movement, then combat on water and land. Ships can assist land assaults or bombard. The players can explore ahistoric options like an invasion of Vermont or an amphibious campaign with units that represent the authentic military formations and fleets actually present at the time. Complexity is low enough for a game between a novice and an experienced gamer. It has a separate section of rules for solitaire play. There will be a full color standard mapsheet and 200 multicolor die-cut counters, boxed. Cost will be about $35.00.
