President Speaks

SGS Objectives

It's 1989, so based on early pre-election returns I must have been elected President. My objective for my year in office is to try to push the SGS into a mode of expansion, of increased services, and of increased membership interest. There are things a national club can do for its members. I will endeavor to convince the MITSGS that they could survive having a collaboration with their Summer convention, thereby gaining the SGS a national convention and site at minimal investment for ourselves. I will seek to find new blood to keep the club alive. I will recruit writers to reward our gallant editor in his never- ending struggle against blank pages.

We have a wide variety of committee posts in the Constitution and By-Laws. So far as I know, I am active as chairman of the Publications Committee. If anyone else is active as a committee chairman, they have hidden the fact from me. If you are a committee chairman, and are doing something for the club, speak up now, or suffer the embarassment of being replaced by mistake. I will carry a complete list of vacant committee chairmanships and their duties in the next issue of -S-.

We must then assume, the largest BOAT ever to be lost would have been one of two either the "Thresher" or the "Scorpion", both Subs. If Ryan Schultz missed this one, possibly he can explain why...
