A brief extract from the DNL #?+1. (4 Dec 88) The SGS Directorate is concerned about the cash flow of SGS. In short, we are going broke but slowly. To maintain the necessary services and postage and to bring the fund back to an even keel, there were several options given. Everything from reducing the size of the -S- to increasing the dues. The increase in rates of postage has brought about some of this need. Some of the members are using their own money to pay postage for SGS related business. I would be quick to point out that none of these are really complaining about it, they just would like the club to become stable. There was also a recommendation by one of the staff to increase the size of the -S-. As Editor I would like to point out that this would require three important items.
TWO: Printing costs would go up and postage also. The larger -S- would require more money to print as well as more postage to mail it. THREE: IF 1 & 2 were done, the dues would certainly have to increase even more. (My own note here: the Editor did NOT make the request for the increase in size of the -S-). The consensus was that there most likely would be an increase in the dues in the near future. So as not to worry anyone, it is not final yet but the increase seems to be about $1 per year. If anyone has any comments either in favor or against it, if they would forward them to me I certainly will put them in the -S-.
