Diplomatic Openings

by Jack Jewart

How is it that Ringling Brothers start the show: "Ladies and Gentlemen, Children of all ages!"

Now appearing in the center ring as the new editor of the -a-- newsletter: Jack E Jewart.

I contacted George Phillies and offered my assistance and the agreement was that George would put out the June issue and I would commence with the July issue. It left me with a very short time to assemble the articles but with the help of a friend or so, I did manage to get a couple articles from here and there, I think I'll be able to get out more than one page for the month of July. I would make a request at this time though that anyone having any articles on hand or in mind, please rush them through as I will need input for future issues. The format will remain the same.

Being relatively new at this, I do not know what I can get away with so if any of you have any ideas, please forward then also as I certainly will be open for any ideas at all.

Perhaps a little background on myself might be appropriate. I'm 51 years old and have been board gaming for over 15 years. I do most of it by mail as opponents here in the Pacific Northwest are very hard to come by. Also I am usually busy enough that I really do not have the time to set down to a 4 or 5 hour face to face session.

I retired from the US Army in 1975 as a Chief Warrant Officer W-4 after 20 years in the Nuclear Ordnance business. At 38, I went through the Tacoma Police Academy and worked for 12 years as a Tribal Policeman (10 as the Chief) for the Nisqually Indian Tribe here in Washington. I gave that up last December and am presently just working part time to keep out of trouble and trying to devote more time to MY hobbies.

I certainly hope all of you will enjoy the new -S- and am looking forward to hearing from a lot of you. I certainly am Open to any Comments, both constructional and otherwise and certainly will accept anything printable for the news.letter.

In closing, if I may use the words of the Bartells and James commercials on the TV: "We thank you for your support!"
