Mr Hopkinson of Herefordshire would like
to know if anyone can identify the above badge.
It is shown as being worn in a painting of a Mr
Bernier, who was an ancestor of his. Mr Bernier
lived through the siege of Paris 1870/71.
According to family tradition, he was 'one of
Napoleon's pages and the badge was given by
Napoleon'.
On the painting this badge is small and rather indistinct. The above drawing is my interpretation of it. Can anyone identify it?
