Monuments and Holidays

by Paul Chamberlain

Monuments

Dave Hollins has sent me a note about a monument to the two battles of Zurich; 4th June 1799, Archduke Charles v. Massena, and 25th September 1799, Korsakov v. Massena. It is a cairn monument in the wooded hills to the east of Zurich, and consists of a large sign nearby with fairly clear diagrams of each battle. Something to look out for if you are in the area.

Holidays

Grapeshot Tours have two holidays planned for this year. Eagles on the Danube is based around the dramatic events of 1805 and 1809, while Eagles on the Adige follows the steps of Napoleon's army in Northern Italy. Full details can be obtained from Grapeshot Tours, "Lindenhof", Weyhill, Andover, Hants, SPI I 8HX. Incidentally, Mike Hannon, the proprietor of this organisation, will be presenting a lecture on the subject of his tours at the Corresponding Members' meeting on 10th October, full details of which will be available shortly.
