Further to my brief discussion of this officer in Issue One, I can now confirm that he was the father of John Urquhart [c], Captain in the Army and Assistant Military Secretary to the East India Company. Born at Milton in Glen Urquhart on the 19th July 1753, the son of Andrew Urquhart jr in Milton, he was 27 not 29 when he shipped for Madras on board the "Deptford" in June 1781. What he had been doing with himself prior to that date is so far a mystery.
