Sapeurs de GenieUniform The blue coat was cut as for the Foot Artillery, but the collar, lapels, cuffs and patches were black piped with scarlet. The scarlet turnbacks were decorated with blue grenades; and had scarlet vertical pocket piping. The epaulettes were scarlet and the buttons were brass. There was a blue waistcoat and breeches; worn with long black gaiters. Officers had gold epaulettes, gold aiguillettes on the right, riding boots. Headdress The first company wore an iron helmet with comb, eagle plate and chinscales; the horsehair crest was black, the plume was red. The other companies wore a shako with red decorations and brass eagle plate. Equipment White belts supported cartridge pouch and sabre-briquet; the pouch bore a brass eagle plate, the sword-knot was red. Muskets were carried, and the men also had knapsacks and blue greatcoats. Train des EquipagesThe coat was sky blue with blue piping and white buttons; sky blue breeches were worn with hussar boots. The shako had a white eagle plate and chinscales, white cords, red pompon. Greatcoats were also sky blue. Horse furniture was a white sheepskin shabraque with sky blue trim; officers had a sky blue shabraque with silver trim. Equipment and weapons as for the Artillery Train. Bicorn with red trim later replaced with shakos (yellow trim and red pompom, brass eagle plate).
