On 3rd October 1994, the Day of German Unity, Peter Hofschroer, an acknowledged authority on the Napoleonic Wars, received an award for his work as an historian. Ferdinand, the current Prince Bismarck, personally presented Peter with the Bismarck Memorial Medal in silver in recognition of his contribution to the understanding of Prussian history and in recognition of his loyalty to the nation. Peter, a qualified historian and linguist, is an author of several works on aspects of the Napoleonic Wars. He currently works for the Spectrum HoloByte - Microprose group, one of the leading publishers of high quality computer simulation games. The photographs show Peter, as always suitably attired for the occasion, receiving the medal from the Prince, the medal, and the accompanying certificate. I am sure that we will all wish to congratulate Peter on this achievement. It's just a shame that they didn't tell him that the fancy dress party was cancelled.
