SYWA East

By Jim Purky

6. Tricon SYWA Convention: A te deum should be fired in honor of association member Byron Champlin who has organized what looks to be an outstanding convention next November 2-3, 1996 at the Masonic Temple, Monument Square, Concord, MA. There will be several lectures on 18th Century military history, a tour of the Lexington and Concord battlefield sites by the park hislorian, and a nice assortment of SYW, F&l War and American Revolution wargame events. From everything that Byron has told me about Tricon, it appears to be a five star quality convention and I hope that the membership will give it its best support through its attendence.

Byron first approached me about the idea of having a SYWA-sponsored convention in the New England area, about a year ago. I provided him with a mailing list of area members and the promise of $200.00 in seed money to help the convention meet its expenses. By the way, this offer applies to anyone else who would like to organize a SYWA convention in any part of the USA. I have been very impressed with Byron's efforts and hope that this is the start of a regular event in the New England area. For more information write to: Tricon, PO Box446, Durham, NH 03824 or call Byron Champlin at (603) 228-0097.
