September 9, 1757

Translated and Edited
With Additional Materials By Neil Cogswell

We learned that, yesterday evening, the Prussians started to send their baggage, together with their sick and wounded, along the road to Rothenburg. 276 deserters came across at that time.

The Duke of Bevern send a trumpeter to His Royal Highness Prince Charles of Lorraine to request a passport to take the body of General Winterfeldt, under an escort of 4 hussars to be buried on his estates in Silesia. His Royal Highness immediately granted this request.

Having reconnoitered the ground in front of the left wing of the Austrian army, General Guasco proposed advancing that wing a short distance. During that reconnaissance, his escort captured 13 Prussians in the village of Markersdorf.

The Corps formerly commanded by General Winterfeldt has been entrusted to LieutenantGeneral Lestwitz.
