Hardback with 436 pages including illustrations, Notes and Index. Published by Weidenfeld and Nicolson (1999) at £25.

Whilst covering the full range of the activities of the King, Giles MacDonogh concentrates on the personality of Frederick. Whilst members of the Seven Years War Association are naturally most interested in his campaigns, it is good to have the opportunity to see a little more of the man himself and his activities away from the battlefield, including extracts from his poetry. Giles MacDonogh has produced a literary portrait of this "most intelligent and interesting of all European monarchs".
