Other books published by Greenhill recently, and worthy of a look, are: On The Napoleonic Wars by David Chandler (£11.95, paperback, ISBN 0-85367-349-8) published last year that is a collection of essays written by an acknowledged authority on the period. The essays include a look at the origins of the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars; the Egyptian campaign, Austerlitz; the Peninsular War; and Russia 1812. This volume is a general look at significant aspects of the period, based upon articles and lectures presented over the author's lifetime. Wellington in the Peninsula is one of the trilogy on the Duke written by Jac Weller (published in 1999, price £12.95, paperback, ISBN 1-85367-381-1). This trilogy is a highly-detailed account of Wellington as a soldier, first published in the 1960s and then reproduced by Greenhill in recent years. Weller performed comprehensive research for these books, which has stood the test of time and makes these volumes as valid and useful today as they were when first published, making them classic works. Wellington in India (to be published in paperback in April of this year), Wellington in the Peninsula, and Wellington at Waterloo (all published by Greenhill) are classic works. Following on from these works by Jac Weller, this author also produced a number of articles and lectures based upon his research for this trilogy, which have been collected in On Wellington: The Duke and His Art of War (1998, £19.99, hardback, ISBN 1-85367-334-X). This collection looks at the key elements of the Duke's military achievements and generalship, including articles on Wellington in the Peninsula - Busaco; Logistiscs; Engineers, Intelligence and Guerrillas. These and the paper on tactics at Waterloo are very informative. Some of the chapters are based upon papers given to American military audiences and so compares Wellington with the American generals of a later era. These I found somewhat esoteric, but are interesting if your study of history is broad and you like making comparisons. These brief reviews are of just a few of the books published by Greenhill recently that you may find of interest. Forthcoming titles include: Napoleonic Uniforms: Vassals and Enemies by Colonel John R. Elting (to be published by the Emperor's Press in January, price £165 for the two-volume set). The Napoleon Options: Alternate Decisions of the Napoleonic Wars, Edited by Jonathan North (February, price £17.99). Napoleon's Generals of the Glory Years by Tony Linck (Emperor's Press, February, price £22.50).
