Recruiting Depot

Napoleonic Association

Compiled by Paul Chamberlain;
Research Officer of the Napoleonic Association.

The Recruiting Depot is a new column for Napoleonic Reenactment groups to advertise their existence to the world. Units should write direct to First Empire - not the Napoleonic Association - your notice should be no longer than 200 words, be typed and should relate solely to recruitment of new members.

The 9th (East Norfolk) regiment of Foot

The 9th (East Norfolk) regiment of Foot are a British reenactment group and members of the Napoleonic Association.

We are looking for recruits to swell our ranks to prevent the upstart Bonaparte and his French hordes from invading these shores.

So if you've always wanted to wear the red coat of a British soldier, learn to fire four rounds a minute, be admired by the ladies and feared by the French now's your chance.

We reenact drill, battles and camp life of a centre company of one of Wellington's veteran units all over Britain and overseas.

The 15th Hussars

The 15th Hussars are the Napoleonic Association's cavalry troop, they are currently seeking new recruits for the coming season. If you're keen on Napoleonics, and are interested in history as a new hobby, then at least do it with style by joining the Hussars. The huge refight of Waterloo will soon be upon us, and to that end the Hussars are expanding; vacancies will exist for officers, troopers, trumpeters and N.C.O.'s. All uniform, kit and equipment are provided free of charge as are horses. The recruiting Sgt would like to hear from any man who can ride a horse; or who is willing to learn, owner riders are especially welcome to join our ranks! The recruit troop is now forming, foot duties are avail-able for non-riders, all that is required is enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.

Any man who has a mind to charge into battle and turn the ladies heads as a bold Hussar, should make enquiries to Sgt John Lander, 46, Home Close, Histon, Cambridge, CB4 4JL.
