Unexpected weekend
This weekend had no focus on wargame matters, still I managed to have very interesting visits, some photos follow. Below here original paintings (this is my favourites Thirty Years War painter Sebastian Vranckx) and drawings (the two date 1501 and slightly later) on sale at FAB paris 2024.
Some cropped and enlarged images of the painting show musketeers, mounted arquebusiers (or Dragoons?), and officer and some more musketeers and pikemen. The colour palette is marvellous and I shall try it out with my vintage Minifigs collection. Also there is no trace of a uniform colour dressing, for both infantry and cavalry, apart from two musketeers with the similar coloured blue pants on the left.
The following day at Fountainbleu another marvellous discovery, with many rooms used by Napoleon, with many of his belongings. The Dragoon officer helmet and Sabre is not Napoleon’s.
Lastly, a temporary exhibition of Louis XV Hunting games, with super detailed painting showing how the nobles and the pageants and ordinary people were dressed. I should buy the Game Hunting 25mm set I found some time ago, but from whom?
