Battle of Abu Tlea
Today Francesco has organised a good colonial game, the scenario is inspired by the battle of Abu Klea, but the colonial troops are all egyptian.
We have played using some very nice scenario elements and 15mm figures from Francesco’s collection.
The Egyptians were besieged in a fort and a relief force arrived to engage the Mahdists.
The rules used are Battles for Empire by Chris Leach.
We stopped the game in a moment where the battle was really uncertain. The Egyptian right flank wa about to break under the Mahdist masses, while on the left the Bashi Bazouks were retreating from the low hills surrounding the battlefield.
The besieging units had started to move towards the relief force.
With good probability the egyptians would succumb, but the outcome had still some uncertainty. Too bad that we needed to go home for lunch.
Many Thanks to Francesco for such a nice game. Marco and I agree with Francesco, the rules are excellent and very fun to play!
