From Stone Mountain MiniaturesDave Babb has provided The Zouave with the following item of interest: "The Game Manufacturers" Association (GAMA) has resumed hands-on management of Origins, beginning with Origins 94 in San Jose, California. I am on the steering committee for Origins 94. I am in charge of miniature gaming, and I plan to emphasize miniature gaming as an important feature of Origins. To accomplish this, I need the help of gamers. If you've thought about getting involved, the time is now! I invite anyone who can volunteer to help with miniature gaming at Origins to contact me at P.O. Box 675, Brighton, Colorado 80601, or by telephone at 303-654-7989. (This is a new telephone number, which cannot be confirmed in advance. Should it change, the correct new number will be available from directory information, or by calling the previous number: 303-465-4246.) By working together, we can assure that this and future Origins will meet the needs of miniature gamers." Even More from Stone Mountain Miniatures!Dave Babb would like to inform the readers of The Zouave of Stone Mountain Miniatures' new address, telephone number, and fax number. Write to Stone Mountain Miniatures, Inc., P.O. Box 675, Brighton, Colorado, 80601, or call 303-654-7989. As mentioned in Dave's information about Origins, the telephone company cannot yet confirm this number. However, if this number should change, the correct telephone number can be obtained by calling Stone Mountain"s old number, 303-465-4246, or by calling directory assistance. Stone Mountain Miniatures' new dedicated fax number is (303) 659-9024. Ral Partha to Produce MinifigsRal Partha has obtained the rights to produce Miniature Figurines (Minifigs) in the United States. As a consequence, Ral Partha would be producing 15mm and 25mm American Civil War figures for the first time since it discontinued its own ACW lines about fifteen years ago. Minifigs USA would cease to exist. Orders should be sent to Ral Partha, 5938 Carthage Court, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45212. Plans for a variety of new releases are in the works. Getting the Lead Out, Part IIThe change in our hobby continues. Stone Mountain, Ral Partha, and other U.S. miniature companies are now producing figures in "lead-free pewter." So far, two things are clear: figure prices have increased slightly and the quality of the figures is not greatly changed. Hopefully, prices will stabilize once these alloys are the normal components of figure production.
