Take the high ground - as they say - with this issue we launch our first expansion - from 20 to 24 pages! We have recieved a number of fine articles and scenarios. Thank you all - let's keep thern coming and work towards expanding again... Within these pages you will find articles on artillery effectiveness, wargaming in Scotland, member letters, book reviews, recent trends in gaming, naval, product reviews, Henry Stanley (of Dr. Livingstone fame) in the war, Hobby Happenings, (Paul Price puts the recent "flap" on lead in an understandable perspective) and two interesting scenarios. On the subject of scenarios, George Anderson and Ryan Toews, both long time society members, have done something I believe is called "an idea whose time has come". They have produced an excellent book of 14 Secnarios, titled Bullets and Dirt, for the ACW period. It was one of George's scenarios that "hooked" me on the Zouave in 1988. Although written primarily for Johnny Reb rules, each scenario can easily be transfered to any existing rules set. The years 1861 to 1865 are covered and differ in size from small to large engagements. Let me assure you that this book is an excellent garning tool and source of enjoyment. George assures me that he will continue to provide our magazine with articles and scenarios. In the Summer '92 issue we published an article on the use of skirmishers in gaming, but had no author. Tim Peaslee has claimed authorship on this interesting piece. How about another, Tim? The test of fire makes steel.
